Moving Forward

Trust God with Your Dreams

What to do when you have so many ideas that require more time, money, and other resources than you have? What do you do when there aren’t enough hours in a day to knock out all of the tasks and projects on the never-ending to do list?

The temptation is to push forward and do everything at all costs, and the costs can be quite high. These dreams can come at the expense of one’s sleep, health, bank account, and relationships with those we love the most.

You don’t have to fret or panic over your arbitrary and ambitious timetable. The answer is to trust God with your dreams. We’re wired the way we are by the Creator, the Great Architect of our lives, for a purpose. And, that purpose has a deliberate timing.

I remember feeling like it was a cruel joke that I would always have a constant stream of business ideas and concepts for new initiatives. I’d find it frustrating that I couldn’t make them materialize without self-destructing in the process. My other commitments, responsibilities and limited resources seemed to make it nearly impossible.

It took quite a journey for me to realize that God has a specific timing for all things. His perfect timing takes all things into consideration, far beyond what I can tell with my limited foresight. God knows all things at play – my needs as well as future circumstances with my family, the economy, friends, an so on.

So, when I get riled up and am ready to run ahead of God, I condition myself to take a deep breath and ask, “What will You have me do now?” Knowing God is the ultimate parent, teacher, business mentor, friend, provider, protector and healer. I can’t go wrong with God and all attempts at doing, achieving, and striving without God’s guidance is futile.

Therefore, rather than keep fighting with myself and fostering inner turmoil, I am trusting God to do far beyond what I can conceive. As I submit to His will, which includes adjusting plans and surrendering to God’s timing, I am trusting God to exceed my expectations.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that is in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21
